Action For Children's 6 Week Programme is aimed at young people and adults aged 16 years and over who are interested in pursuing a career in early learning and childcare. It focuses on childcare and early years, and also develops your employability and transferable skills too.
The course runs 4 days a week, from 9:30am – 12:30pm in 6 week blocks
Course Topics include:
· Safeguarding children and child protection · The importance of play · The development of a child and factors affecting this · Health and Safety · Equality and Diversity · GIRFEC & SHANARRI
As part of the course, you will have independent work to complete, including tasks linked to taught sessions and online learning activities through the Open University Free Courses and Action for Children. These sessions will be focused on childcare related topics and employability skills. As well as this, the learners will take part in employability workshops which include:
· Goal Setting · Identifying Skills, Qualities and Attributes · CV’s and Cover Letters · Confidence Building · Job Searches · Teamwork
These are to assist you in building these skills in preparation for entering or re-entering the workforce. Following the course, there is the opportunity to sign up to do an SVQ 2 in Social Services (Children and Young People)!
