Following feedback from Development Trusts Association Scotland members and other, particularly rural communities, DTAS is exploring the potential for the development of an initiative to support community transport projects.
The basic premise would be to establish a model that makes it easier for communities, principally those in rural areas to set up and run community transport services sustainably (e.g. car share, electric vehicles, car clubs etc).
Looking at the numbers of current community transport projects, DTAS recognises that more needs to be done in this area if communities are to try and address the disappearance of public transport services, support local people to be able to access services and tackle issues such as social isolation and the various environmental issues associated with private car use.
They are very much in the early stages of exploring this idea and would welcome DTAS member views on them progressing such a project and gauge numbers of those who would be interested in accessing such a scheme.
Please can you let Catherine know of any comments, suggestions and questions that you have at this stage, answering the below questions by Wednesday 22nd of January by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
