Tuesday 14th April 2020, Elgin Town Hall Supper Room 7 - 9pm
Would you like to have more of an influence on how Moray Council allocates its budget and delivers services?
In 2017 COSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) and Scottish Government established a framework agreement whereby at least 1% of local authority budgets (excluding council tax) will be subject to Participatory Budgeting decision making by the end of 2021. This Mainstream Participatory Budgeting scales up small grants community budgeting by creating opportunities for communities to participate in decisions about service delivery and local resources.
Moray Council adopted a Participatory Budgeting Policy Statement and Framework in January this year and we are working towards our target of 1%. Our framework is attached for your information.
This session itself will offer an introduction to Participatory Budgeting (PB), as well as;
· An opportunity to learn how your community can influence decision making
· A presentation from a representative from COSLA about the progress of PB in Scotland
· Learning about CONSUL, the online platform being developed for mainstream PB
· How Moray Council is engaging in the process
· How youcan be involved
