New Mental Health Service in Moray

Updated: Apr 9, 2022

Sonas is the new tier 2 Mental health service from Action for Children for children, young people and families in Moray. They offer a range of support designed to improve mental health and support emotional wellbeing. They are operating a No Wrong Door approach and are especially keen to ensure there are no barriers to accessing them as a team and their service.

The service includes drop in sessions across Moray's communities, Bouncing Back sessions and Parent and Partner Workshops on their Blues Approach.

Bouncing Back is a brief intervention with focus on improving resilience and their Blues approach is a targeted intervention to tackle anxiety and low mood. They have also partnered with Revolution for Good to provide life coaching sessions to support young people in Moray.

Their Whole Family Support recognises the importance of every family member having a part to play in improving the wellbeing. They understand too, that life's bumps in the road don't always happen Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm so they have a designated helpline for families that we are supporting so that they can get support 7am-11pm, 365 days a year.

They also provide a digital service, running alongside their face-to-face contact. This includes access to Build Sound Minds, the Blues App and the Sonas website (https://services.actionforchildren.org.uk/moray-sonas-wellbeing-service/).

They are also able to provide access to Lumi Nova in partnership with BfB Labs. This is an immersive gaming experience that uses graduated exposure therapy that builds confidence and problem-solving skills to reduce anxiety in 7–12-year-olds.
